Portfolio

Ji Song Sun is a Graduate Research Assistant and Graduate Teaching Assistant at the Center for Civilization and a Master of Architecture ('21) candidate at the University of Calgary School of Architecture, Planning and Landscape (SAPL). As a designer and an architect-in-training, Ji Song’s interests towards architecture and design derive from having various opportunities to re-evaluate the purposes and uses of existing spaces that we live in today. Being able to explore their potentials and re-define them through creative concepts and design strategies is something that he finds most intriguing. To practice his interests and turn them into tangible forms and designs, Ji Song has assembled and led teams of like-minded individuals—called 4Studio and The Collabo—to participate in 20 different design competitions that required various inter-disciplinary collaborations. Ji Song has previously worked as an architectural student intern in Edmonton, and as a graduate research assistant at the School of Architecture, Planning and Landscape. He has won scholarships totaling $22,000, including the University of Calgary SAPL Scholarship. In 2019, Ji Song was a finalist in Ottawa Capital Riverfront Challenge Competition. In May 2021, Ji Song will begin his 16-months MEDes research thesis on TAZA Park Project, where he will collaborate with the Tsuut’ina First Nations, Canderel and Zeidler Architects to construct monumental pavilions or installations within the territories of the indigenous community.
